Cirque du Soleil is all set to make its India debut this weekend
The world’s biggest theatrical production, Cirque du Soleil, is ready to debut their first show in India with its 43rd original production titled ‘Bazzar’. The performance, which includes a troupe of acrobats, dancers and musicians showcasing classic and contemporary circus aspects, will also feature a uniquely Indian element—a Mallakhamb act. In another first, the production will premier Bazzar in the Mumbai instead of Montreal, Canada, where all their new shows usually debut.
The Canadian stage behemoth is known to take traditional circus arts to a whole new level, with state-of-the-art spectacles in acrobatics, aerials, balancing, juggling, and clowning by performers decked in enthralling costumes with captivating music and impressive staging.
Those familiar with Cirque’s productions know that their shows are characterised by the sheer quality of performances and the scale of the shows. Their production in India is no different, and will witness the building of a ‘Big Top’ tent that can seat 1,500 people. A major focus of Bazzar is also expected to be the two Indian performers among the international cast of 31 performers and musicians chosen from 13 different countries.
An exclusive, invite-only premier of Bazzar by Cirque du Soleil will be held on November 11, 2018 at the Big Top Tent at MMRDA, BKC, Mumbai. The acrobatic spectacle opens to public on November 15 in Mumbai and November 25 in Delhi. Tickets can be booked on Bookmyshow.com
