The Alison Dress
Hopefully by now, you’ve seen the new Gal Meets Glam Collection dresses we launched this month! Since the resort line coming out next month is our biggest yet (and will be available at a bunch of new retailers–lots more information on that to come soon!), we kept our January selection simple, streamlined, and classic. Wearing these dresses feels like the breath of fresh air I always crave during January, thanks to both the breezy colors and patterns, as well as the utterly timeless and wearable designs. I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite from each month’s selection, but I will admit that I’m particularly head over heels for our Alison dress this month.
Made with the same box-weaved crepe fabric of our Celeste dress (one of our most popular styles to date), Alison perfectly blends vintage and modern inspiration into a look that’s just right for everyday wear. One of my greatest hopes for Gal Meets Glam Collection dresses is that you’ll want to reach for them daily, and while some of our special occasion dresses aren’t quite right for, say, the office, you’ll always find a wear-anywhere dress (or two, or three, or more!) in our line each month. Alison is the perfect example–wear her to work, dressed up for date night, dressed down for Saturday morning, and everything in between. You can rarely go wrong with a versatile fit and flare silhouette–no matter the occasion or setting, it practically always looks and feels appropriate. While this design is on the simple side, the rounded collar, pleated skirt, and luxurious-feeling fabric ensure it’s anything but boring.
We couldn’t decide if we wanted to bring this design to life in a dark or light color, so ultimately, we chose both! I wanted something a little softer, but every bit as versatile, as black and white, so we opted for a gorgeous dark indigo and a creamy bone ivory. Both shades feel perfect for this mid-winter month, but will look just as striking as the days begin to warm up and we can shed a few layers. Right now, wear this dress in either color under a sweater and with tights and knee-high boots for a cozy, feminine look. Later on (as early as next month if you live somewhere with similar weather to Charleston), trade those pieces for a feminine, lightweight cardigan and your favorite classic ballet flats. Instant Audrey Hepburn, don’t you think?
I can’t wait to see the ways you style the Alison dress! Let me know which color is your favorite below, and be sure to share your new Gal Meets Glam Collection outfits on Instagram by tagging @galmeetsglam and using #gmgonme.
